Medication synchronization (or “med sync”) is service where we coordinates all your prescription refills so you can pick them up on a single, convenient day each month. Instead of making multiple trips to the pharmacy as different medications run out, your pharmacist aligns them to a single “anchor date”.
How the Process Works
- Enrollment & Review: You speak with your pharmacist to identify all your ongoing maintenance medications.
- Alignment (Short Fills): To get everything on the same schedule, the pharmacy may provide a one-time “short fill” (a partial supply) of certain medications.
- Monthly Check-in: A few days before your scheduled pickup, the pharmacy team calls you to confirm there have been no changes to your prescriptions or health status.
- Single Pickup: You visit the pharmacy once a month to collect all synchronized prescriptions at once
Key Benefits
- Improved Adherence: Patients are 2.5 to 6 times more likely to stay on track with their medications when enrolled in med sync programs.
-
Convenience: Reduces the “pharmacy fatigue” of frequent trips, which is especially helpful for seniors, busy professionals, and caregivers.
- Better Health Outcomes: Consistent adherence is linked to fewer hospitalizations and lower overall medical costs.
- Pharmacist Support: The monthly check-in allows for deeper consultation regarding potential drug interactions or side effects.
Who Should Consider Med Sync?
- Anyone taking three or more regular medications.
- Patients with chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure.
- Caregivers managing complex medication routines for others
